- Problem
- Headcount was chalked up by hand, block by block, and payroll was rebuilt from it every month.
- System
- An AppSheet app with Apps Script behind it: one-minute headcount entry, role menus for managers and accountants, automatic photo collages of the day.
- Outcome
- Per-block payroll that computes itself. In daily use — the manager sees the day before the crew has left the field.
The crew
Supervisors spread across nursery blocks, often with a weak signal. The app works offline and syncs when the network returns.
The money
Payroll is calculated per block from the headcount itself, so month end is a review rather than a reconstruction.
The evidence
Photos taken during the day are assembled into a collage automatically, so the record of the day is attached to the day's numbers.
